Overview of Post purchase upsell campaign

Last updated on December 3, 2025

About Post purchase upsell campaign

A post-purchase upsell campaign allows you to present up to three additional products to customers immediately after they complete their order. Since the original purchase is already finalized, this is an effective way to boost revenue without increasing the risk of cart abandonment.

  • Show upsell offers right after the order confirmation page.

  • Payments for upsell products are processed instantly using the customer’s saved payment method, and the items are added to the existing order.

  • You can set a timer to create urgency or FOMO, encouraging quicker decisions.

  • Note: This campaign may not be available for all stores or in every scenario. Please review the “Points to keep in mind” section below for details.

Where does the widget appear?

The widget appears on a separate page that appears after order payment but before the Thank you page appears.

Example Use cases

After a customer purchases a product, such as track pants (the main or trigger product), you can present additional offer items like hoodies, watches, caps, and more to encourage them to add more to their order. These offers appear right before the thank you or order confirmation page.

Customers can accept the offer with a single click to complete the payment—without needing to re-enter their payment information—or they can choose to skip the offer entirely.

Points to keep in mind

  1. The upsell offer will only appear after the payment has been successfully processed using a Credit Card or PayPal Express, with Shopify acting as the payment provider. Keep in mind that Shopify Payments is only available in certain countries.

  2. While the customer is viewing the post-purchase upsell offer, the order status will be set to on-hold.

  3. Styling options are limited, as this campaign is directly integrated with the Shopify Checkout.

  4. To change the default text in your campaign, please reach out to our customer support team. Shopify does not allow free text edits on the post-purchase page.

  5. The checkout currency must match the store’s default currency in order for the campaign to display properly.
